- Any wrestler competing for Team WV is encouraged to attend a Freestyle Clinic.
- All Team WV participants must wear team-issued singlets during the tournament.
- To qualify for Team WV wrestlers must qualify at WV State freestyle tournament. The only exception is if a wrestler has a valid reason for missing (i.e. serious injury, family emergency). In this case, the wrestler will need to contact Chris Way or Bethany Alt who will decide whether the wrestler can participate as part of Team WV.
- All Team WV participants must be enrolled in a WV school as of March 1st.
- Team WV Coaches are the only coaches permitted to be in the athlete’s corner.
- If a wrestler’s family member stays in the dormitory as a chaperone of Team WV, they must follow all dormitory rules that the athletes are expected to follow.
- The WV state chairman will have final decision in in the consequences of an athlete’s misbehavior. If the chairman is not available, then the final decision rests with the national team head coach.
- It is the athlete’s responsibility to make the designated weight class, If there is a team spot available, it is the athlete’s decision whether to change weight classes.
- Athletes must qualify at the WV freestyle state tournament at the weight class they wish to compete at 16u & Junior Nationals. However, if there is a spot available in another weight class, an athlete can change to that weight class. Not athlete can “bump” another athlete out of a weight class for which they have qualified.
